Pruning

Q. Why should my trees be pruned?

The most important types of pruning are removal of dead limbs and repairing breaks on main trunks and limbs to prevent heart rot fungus from entering the trunk and main limbs through the dead or broken limb that could eventually cause the structural integrity of the main trunks or limbs to fail.  Another important type of pruning is weight reduction on long horizontal or weak limbs.  These are the type of limbs that are most vulnerable during high winds and could cause significant damage to the tree, should they fail.

Certified Arborists

Q. Why should I hire a certified arborist?

1) For an applicant to be eligible to take the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified arborist exam, they must have had at least 3 years experience working full time in the field of arboriculture.

2) In order to pass the ISA certified arborist exam, the applicant must have working knowledge and be proficient in 10 categories:

Soil Management

Tree Identification and Selection

Tree Installation and Establishment

Safe Work Practices

Tree Biology

Pruning

Diagnosis and Treatment

Urban Forestry

Tree Protection

Tree Risk Management

As you see, anyone who has mastered these categories is much more qualified to successfully work on trees than someone who has not been certified under this program.
