Pruning Certified Arborists PruningQ. Why should my trees be pruned?
The most important types of pruning are removal of dead limbs and repairing breaks on main trunks and limbs to prevent heart rot fungus from entering the trunk and main limbs through the dead or broken limb that could eventually cause the structural integrity of the main trunks or limbs to fail. Another important type of pruning is weight reduction on long horizontal or weak limbs. These are the type of limbs that are most vulnerable during high winds and could cause significant damage to the tree, should they fail. ^ TOP Certified ArboristsQ.
